Yes, there are inaccuracies, as others have pointed out here. This is a dramatization and this is delicate approved entertainment. As an armchair historian, in care for with the stories of Henry VIII, I procure it absolutely fascinating. Completely zigzag after first episode. JRM, Henry Cavill, and Maria Kennedy give stellar performances. Absolutely admire this reveal but there are a few inaccuracies, such as combining King Henry’s sisters into one, Margaret, whom did not marry Brandon, but sister Mary did and bore his chldren.Henry Fitzroy dying at such a young age when he had a substantial deal to do with Anne Boleyn’s trial was mind blowing. Do not glimpse this if you absorb you are “learning” about the Tudors, it clearly deviates from the truth, but it is an astounding allotment of fiction with a beautiful cast!!!

For those of you who do not already know this is the 3rd release of this series. Actually 4th if you count the recent single DVD release making this second Viridian Collection so I wanted to certain up the differences between all of them before you arbitrarily honest take the cheapest one.

The first release Gunslinger Girl: Complete Box Station is the new single DVD releases in a nice jog case box to store them in together. The second release Gunslinger Girl Box Region – Viridian Collection is the unusual Viridian Collection containing all of the first release including special features on the disks but in better looking if cardboard “gatefold” style packaging that takes up the size of about a single DVD case.

Just a word of warning unlike most “Viridian Collection”s this second release is more than a simple reprice w/ cheaper packaging and lack of inserts but the anime itself differs from all previous US releases. The earlier releases were all in anamorphic widescreen and this is the first time Gunslinger Girl has been released in fullscreen.

I guess you can say this fullscreen version is closer to the “modern” TV airing in Japan but the others had an estimable 16:9 aspect ration and were enhanced for widescreen TVs like the later Japanese editions were. As for the packaging in this version it has changed yet again so instead of the cardboard “gatefold” style case it now comes in an “omni” case that holds 3 DVDs and is about the size of 1 standard DVD case.

Differences from the other boxes aside the anime itself it is profitable and highly recommended. One of my all time favorites.

I haven’t seen the DVD yet, so this review is based upon my having the Japanese laser disc as well as seeing the world premiere in Meguro Public Hall in Tokyo Japan succor in July 1987.

Although released in video as an OVA, it was originally shown in film to members of Kitty Animation Circle who went to the 1987 KAC taikai. It tells the Inaba-kun account in the manga, and is a prequel to the “Boy Meets Girl” tale in the final manga volume, which was subsequently spellbinding as “Urusei Yatsura Kanketsuhen” (“final sage) .

I hope that this DVD contains the uncut version shown at the KAC taikai; the LD release had several scenes crop and consequently was several minutes shorter.

Here’s a brief summary of the account that I wrote in 1987:

Shinobu, Ataru, and Lum secure alive to with what appears to be a man in a rabbit suit, named Inaba-kun (“kun” is a man’s word, like “san” but less formal) . They destroy up in spot surrounded by many doors. Each door is a possible path of fate. They all scatter to secure their ideal fate, but their hopes are dashed.

In one fate, Ataru marries Shinobu and fathers Kokeru, Lum marries Rei, and Ran is even more sulky and snide than before. In another fate, Rei and Ran are married, but Lum marries Mendou and Ataru is his servant. etc. etc.

Inaba-kun offers to let them accomplish their ideal fates by creating their beget door-knobs to as yet incomplete doors. Shinobu’s is heart-shaped, Lum’s has a tiger pattern, and Ataru’s has a star (Moroboshi = “all stars”) . Before they can consume them, they are captured by the other rabbit people, who prepare to boil Inaba-kun alive for letting mortals control fate. They reckoned without Shinobu’s strength when furious, and the gang escapes.

They immediately explore to try their knobs, but they are again ambushed by the other rabbit people, and Lum’s knob is lost. Ataru escapes with his knob, and uses it. He sees himself surrounded by every girl he has ever wanted, all in alive to attendance upon him. All except Lum — he forgot to include her in his “ideal” fate! He sees his older self in tears at not having Lum. Ataru flees the scene, removes the knob, and discards it.

We peer Shinobu’s ideal fate; an older Ataru is aloof chasing after girls, and an older Lum (dressed like Lum’s mother) is pursuing him with lightning bolts. In other words, Shinobu’s ideal fate is for nothing to change, and she expresses complete satisfaction with it. She is a sensible girl.

Meanwhile, Lum is mad at Ataru and is chasing him around the doors of fate. The rabbit people are trying to rep the gang, but only waste up getting fried by one of Lum’s lightning bolts. They are getting truly pissed! Finally, they send a hail of doors at the gang, who waste up getting buried under the rubble.

They eventually gain out, and we study yet another fate; it is outside a church, and all the Tomobiki people are there to be at Lum’s wedding. The groom is clearly Ataru, but we never ogle his face… This fate is also destroyed by the rabbit people

Presently, the gang is on the hasten again from the rabbit people, and Inaba-kun pushes them relieve through the door to Tomobiki and seals it. Evidentally, he makes his peace with the rabbit people, because the last scene is of him relieve at work, maintaining the doors of fate. He sees something; it is Lum’s lost doorknob. He picks it up, puts it on a door, and walks on.

In the KAC magazine shortly thereafter, a Japanese reviewer criticized the film, saying that the producer did not truly understand the cherish between Ataru and Lum. Specifically, in the scene correct after the door with the marriage of Lum and Ataru is destroyed, Lum and Ataru unprejudiced occupy themselves, suggesting that their treasure is ordinary; but if it is ordinary, why do they quarrel so noteworthy and why would Ataru give up his dream of a harem? The reviewer felt that this was an inconsistency and not in accord with the unique author’s intentions.

I loved this, but even though I would give it 5 stars, it deserves 4, because Lum was called a BITCH of all dirty things! I mediate they could have made something better! A rated 12 and up!

I first saw this when I was in the first grade (about 15 years ago…) and it detached sticks with me to this day. I loved the animation and narration and I’ve been searching (for what seems like forever) to glean out who made it and if it’s peaceful available. Thanks, Amazon!

After reading these reviews I wanted to leer this and study if I liked it enough to add it to our Scholastic Video Collection. I got it on inter-library loan and I objective admire it. It’s one of my approved Scholastic Video Collection dvd’s.

There are quite a lot of short stories on this one. Swimmy, Frederick, Fish is Fish, It’s Mine! and Cornelius are all Leo Lionni stories. They all have similar artwork, which is very brilliant and fine. The animation is sizable. In Swimmy, some of the fish almost sparkle and are psychedelic-like. I hear lots of oohs and aahs. It’s very nice to ogle and my 4 year aged enjoys the stories.

The bonus stories are Each Peach, Pear, Plum (which is kind of a ogle and fetch sage with no animation. I’m not too crazy that there is a witch in the yarn), Hush Dinky Baby (no animation and it’s not read but sung) and my daughter’s absolute well-liked, Let’s Give Kitty a Bath. This one is live-action with no dialog. She could inspect this Kitty epic over and over and over (the other day she did) . I admit, it is quite cute.

This DVD seems more appropriate for older children rather than preverbal babies who are trying to communicate basic wants and needs. In addition, there are no babies signing or speaking in this production and it lacks an appropriate tutorial for parents of hearing babies who are teaching their babies to exhaust notice language.

I recommend the My Baby Can Talk series to hiss either ticket language or first spoken words to babies.

We have been trying to earn out daughter to say more than the few words she knows for a while. Once she started watching this she can’t cessation talking! It is titanic! She knows what everything around the house is – after only watching a couple of times. She has been talking and repeating almost anything anyone says since she started watching this video. While TV is not a babysitter, educational videos have a state for minute children. A review of the newest Baby Einstein ranted about ADHD and more if children recognize TV before age 2 – do more research! I am a Sociologist/Psychologist and if I idea that it was harming my child or was uneducational, I would not let them do it.

Noel Coward’s celebrated stage comedy BLITHE SPIRIT comes to the cloak with noteworthy charm and distinguished performances from Rex Harrison, Constance Cummings, and Margaret Rutherford in this fantasy of a married man whose seance party inadverdently summons up the ghost of his first wife–who promptly moves in, turning him into an “astrial bigamist.”

The Coward script, which zips along with frigid one liners, is well played in the best British ‘throw-away’ tradition, hastily, light, and more than a diminutive acid. Harrison is neatly cast as the hag-ridden husband, Cummings is particularly charming as the terse second wife, and Dame Margaret Rutherford steals the explain as the slightly dotty medium who conjures up the ghost of Harrison’s first wife and then can’t gain rid of her. Fans of cold English comedy will relish it considerably; others, however, may acquire it all a bit too restrained for their tastes.

I purchased this DVD without ever having seen the movie, but I figured I couldn’t go substandard with David Lean, Rex Harrison, and Noel Coward. Unfortunately, I didn’t steal DVD production values (or lack thereof) into consideration.

This is probably a astounding movie, but the DVD is unwatchable. The sound is absolutely abysmal. I wasn’t able to acquire out Noel Coward’s dialog at all. Don’t bother getting this DVD; wait for a better transfer.

I admit to having a gargantuan affinity for Dean Martin. To me he was the essence of frigid in the 1960’s. Considering he was 49 years outmoded when he did the first Matt Helm movie, The Silencers, that’s really saying a lot about his popularity and influence befriend during that period. I Honest loved watching these films on TV as a kid. My brother always preferred the Bond films, but even as a youngster I appreciated the humor and charm that martin brought to his role as Elegant Look Matt Helm. The plots of the four films are almost secondary to Martin’s scenery chewing, and that’s unbiased how I like it.

In “The Silencers” Helm, an agent for ICE (Intelligence and Counter Espionage) is out to finish the usual baddies The Large O from detonating a nuclear bomb and starting world war III. The elegant Stella Stevens is along for the plod as is dancer Cyd Charisse. Victor Buono best know as Batman villian King Tut, plays a Chinese baddie!

“Murderer’s Row” is the second Matt Helm film and this time Karl Malden plays the villian role as Julian Wall who has kidnapped a scientist with the blueprint of using his modern arrangement to blow up Washington D.C. This time Dean is joined by the fair Ann-Margaret who plays the scientist’s daughter, Suzie.

“The Ambushers” is up next and there’s a lot of debate on if this film is better or worse than Murderer’s Row. I rate them this one a bit below the previous one due to there being no right top name female co-star this time. An experimental U.s. dwelling ship has been stolen and it’s up to Matt to bag it befriend…in-between drinking and lusting after the ladies!

The “Wrecking Crew” is the last Matt Helm film and I believe one of the best. It contains a bevy of 1960’s beauties including Gilligan’s Island’s Tina Louise, along with Elke Sommer, and the slack Sharon Tate. As usual the region of Helm trying to recover a fortune in stolen gold, is secondary to the hi-jinks of martin’s character. Bruce lee choreographed the fight scenes.

Anyone who goes into the Matt Helm films trying to buy them seriously is in for pains. These were pure, tongue-in-cheek spoofs of observe films and a vehicle for Dino to romp with a lot of handsome women. Quiz anything more and you will be disappointed. But if you appreciate Dean’s 60’s frosty then this is a enormous situation to have.

It wasn’t until 1971’s DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER that the James Bond films decided to slice loose and have some fun, but Dean Martin had already started the Sixties peep party four times with the Matt Helm series. In the least film of all, THE WRECKING CREW, you have Elke Sommer, Tina Louise, Nancy Kwan, and Sharon Tate.

A Sixties Babe-a-thon Hall of Fame good there.

If you’re heed current to these films, you’ll probably be a exiguous disappointed: they’re really not that apt. You’ll either be mystified as Dino pulls a bag out of his trunk and builds a helicopter out of it in WRECKING CREW–or you’ll laugh out loud.

But for pure Swingin’ Sixties nostalgia, assign on one of these DVDs, shake or perambulate your martini, and prefer a plod wait on to the crazy, hip universe of the super-spy Austin Powers wishes he was.

We Shall Remain has an informative episode dedicated to Geronimo, but I like this DVD better. What I liked about this DVD was that there were a lot of interviews with speak and thoughtful people who were descendants of Geronimo or people fervent with him some arrangement during that time. The biggest contrast between this DVD and the episode from We Shall Remain is that so many different, broader perspectives are presented.

As an example, one of the descendants who speaks in the DVD was related to one of the scouts that talked to Geronimo before Geronimo’s surrender. In other versions, I’ve most often heard this presented as betrayal or portrayed as “Indians turning against each other.” What I learned in this version was that there were at least two factions within Geronimo’s gain Chiricahua Apache tribe. Those who followed the chief and Geronimo, and those who no longer wanted to fight and went to live on the desolate reservation forced by the government. The views offered in this DVD elaborate how hard this was on the people on both sides and how they tried to work through this with each other but ended up in different places. The scouts who went to procure and talk to Geronimo before his surrender were ultimately sent to the internment camp with Geronimo and his people. The descendant of the scout speaks of how this was truly betrayal by the government to the scouts, and yet how Geronimo was accepting of the scouts on the scramble (which supports Joseph Bruchac’s well-researched version of Geronimo as well) .

I also believe the psychological mindset leisurely Geronimo was explained more in this DVD, or the dots were connected more somehow. They spoke to how his resistance was directly related to the earlier murders of his family.

Did you know Geronimo was a medicine man and not a chief? That was a surprise for me to learn this after all I had read, this fact hadn’t sunk in until I watched this DVD! Also, I’m also tranquil amazed by the fact that a quarter of the United States army, 5,000 soldiers, were sent to hunt down the 39 of Geronimo’s (and his chief’s) group who were tranquil in hiding. This DVD is pudgy of relevant facts for history.

If you want history told from the people related to those fervent (and one recording from someone who was actually there), this is the DVD for you.

This era is one of the most vulgar of American history:

I showed this movie to my high school history class and the students learned a lot. As a civics instructor, I consider it is favorable that someone from a “blue status” went out and talked to people all across America, the mainstream media never does that. I am glad to sight that someone cares enough to launch the dialogue. Do not let the partisan bloggers fool you, this Pelosi is a gigantic journalist!

(Oh, and a lttle aside, The furor over Barak Hussein Obama’s NAME and his alleged origins as an “arab”, foreigner, terrorista, etc….Barak is a name approved in ISRAEL, so it seems a bit droll to be so concernes about his “eevil MOOSLIM” middle and surnames. I wonder if these people who agreed to be interviewed feel any degree at all of embarassment in retrospect~~ I imagine there a determined element that is PROUD of their performance.
